Lining up smartly
Early morning - The school gate opens at 8.30 am and children and parents are welcome to wait in the playground until the bell rings just before 9.00 am. The playground is supervised from 8.50 am. If it is raining children sit quietly in the school hall.
Reception Class have their own entrance which opens at 8.50 am every morning.

At St. Mary Magdalen's your child will have access to a broad and varied curriculum. In addition to the classroom teachers we employ specialised teachers to teach music and P.E.
Singing at the Thames Festival

  • Every class has at least one music lesson each week and there are opportunities for children to compose their own music using GarageBand.
  • Visiting professionals teach a variety of musical instruments throughout the week (visit our music pages).
  • Ms. Krasnic teaches dance and drama on Tuesdays.
  • Mr. Hyland teaches P.E. on Thursday morning.
  • On Wednesday mornings In the Autumn Term Year 5 have swimming lessons at Ladywell Swimming Baths, travelling by coach to and from the baths. In the Summer Term Year 4 have the opportunity to go swimming.

Activities and Events
  • Everyone enjoys the cake stall
    There are always lots of extra-curricular activities taking place at St. Mary Magdalens. Classes go out on educational visits and different people are invited to visit the school.
  • We organise Charity Fun Days where pupils from each class are responsible for devising and running a fund raising activity.
  • Celebrations are marked with special assemblies, performances and visitors.
  • Every year each class has the opportunity to visit the Environmental Study Centre at Horton Kirby. Visit the school gallery to read a report of each trip.
  • Theatre groups, artists, country dancers and circus performers are frequent visitors. Sometimes animals are invited in for the day! Changing Faces Theatre Group and Freshwater Theatre are always welcome visitors. We are regular visitors to the Barbican where we take part in the LSO Discovery Programme.
  • Visit our Archive to share events we have enjoyed in the past and to see how busy we have been in previous years.

Before school - St. Mary Magdalen's has an arrangement with the Tiny Acorns 'Healthy Eating' Breakfast Club at Brockley Primary School. For further information you can contact the office or Tiny Acorns Nursery (17 Dalrymple Road, London SE4 2BQ, telephone: 020 8694 3553).

After school - St. Mary Magdalen's has an arrangement with St. Andrew's After School Club to provide after school care. Staffed by a dedicated, qualified and experienced team of play workers the club offers a wide variety of learning and play activities in a safe and fun environment. Snacks and drinks are included in the price. Members of St. Andrew's collect children from the playground at 3.30 pm and they walk to St. Andrew's Church (Brockley Road, SE4 2SA). St. Andrew's also collect children who attend after school clubs provided by school.
St. Andrew's After School Club is open Monday to Friday from 3:00pm - 6:00pm during term time and also run activities during the school holidays from 9:00am - 6:00pm. For more information regarding availabilty and current charges please call 020 8694 2459 or visit the link above.
