Science: The link and activities I posted on Wednesday have mysteriously disappeared!  Here it is again with an extra activity for today.

Science: Watch this Terrific scientific lesson all about electricity and do the activities. Read the instructions here first! Good luck.

Science activity 1: watch as different electrical symbols are used in a simple series circuit using a battery, switch, bulb and buzzer. Then choose the correct circuit to light a bulb using. Now choose the correct circuit on the first PDF below.

Science activity 2: of the Live Lesson, they are looking at the conductivity of different materials. Pause the clip and sort/classify some everyday objects into groups of conductors and insulators in the second PDF below.

Science Activity 3: The sweet circuit model!  During this part of the programme we will be demonstrating how electricity moves around a circuit by using models. In one of the models you will be asked to stand in a circle, passing cups/sweets to demonstrate the flow of electrons around a complete circuit. You could do this with your family tonight. You will need some plastic cups and some sweets. Everyone stands in a circle as shown below. Each person holds a plastic cup. Nominate one person as the bulb and another as the battery. The battery has a bowl of sweets beside them. Each person passes their cup to the person on their left. The ‘battery’ places a sweet into each cup that is passed to them, before passing it on. As each cup passes the ‘bulb’, they take the sweet out and place it on a tray beside them.

Do your typing practice here

Today's craft idea is to make a stress ball.

You need: Two balloons, 1 old (dry) water bottle, flour.

1. Put half a mugful of flour into the bottle.

2. Stretch one balloon over the bottle neck.

3. Pour the flour into the balloon.

4. Gently squeeze out any extra air and tie the balloon.

5. Snip the neck off the second balloon.

6. Stretch the second balloon over the first so that the knot is covered.

7. Draw a face on it with a sharpie or marker pen if you like.
